My Medicine is Holistic- This is Why It Matters for You

If you’ve landed on this page, chances are you’ve been searching for something.

Maybe you’ve sat across from a doctor, heard the words “your labs look normal,” and walked out of the office feeling completely unseen — because you know something is wrong. You’re exhausted in ways that sleep doesn’t fix. Your brain is foggy. Your body doesn’t feel like yours anymore. And no one has been able to tell you why. If that’s you — you are in the right place.

And I want you to know: I believe you.

My Story Starts With a Question Medicine Couldn’t Answer

I became a physician because I genuinely love people. I love the complexity of the human body. I love the sacred privilege of being invited into someone’s health journey. But early in my career, I began to notice a troubling gap — a space between what conventional medicine was offering and what my patients actually needed. I watched brilliant, hardworking people cycle through medications that managed symptoms but never resolved the root cause. I watched women in their 40s and 50s be told their fatigue, weight gain, brain fog, and hormonal chaos were simply “part of aging.” I watched patients leave my office with a prescription in hand and a quiet hopelessness in their eyes. And I felt frustrated and unworthy because I was not helping them heal.

And I started asking a question that changed everything for me:

What if the body isn’t broken — what if it just hasn’t been given what it needs to heal?

That question sent me down a path I never expected. It led me to functional medicine — a science-based, systems-oriented approach to healthcare that asks why before it prescribes what. It led me to integrative and holistic medicine — disciplines that honor the full person: body, mind, and spirit. It led me to the realization that health is not the absence of disease. Health is your body functioning the way God designed it to function — with energy, clarity, resilience, and joy.

What Is Functional, Integrative, Holistic Medicine — and Why Does It Matter?

Let me break this down simply, because I believe every person deserves to understand their own health.

🌿 Functional Medicine Asks Why

Conventional medicine is exceptional at managing acute illness and emergencies — and for that, I am deeply grateful. But when it comes to chronic health issues — fatigue, hormone imbalance, gut problems, metabolic dysfunction, autoimmune conditions — conventional medicine often focuses on what to prescribe rather than why the problem exists. Functional medicine goes upstream. Instead of asking “Which medication treats this symptom?” it asks “What is causing this symptom in the first place?”
  • Why is your thyroid struggling?
  • Why are your hormones out of balance?
  • Why is your gut inflamed?
  • Why are your mitochondria — the energy factories of every cell — not producing the energy your body needs?
When we answer why, we can actually heal — not just manage.

🌿 Integrative Medicine Brings the Best of Both Worlds

Integrative medicine doesn’t ask you to choose between science and nature. It honors both.

It takes the best of evidence-based conventional medicine and combines it with proven therapeutic approaches — nutrition, targeted supplementation, stress management, movement, circadian biology, and mind-body practices. The goal isn’t to replace good medicine. It’s to make it whole.
In my practice, I use advanced laboratory testing to look at the full picture of your health — hormones, gut function, inflammatory markers, nutrient levels, mitochondrial function — and I build a personalized plan that addresses your unique biology, not a one-size-fits-all protocol.

🌿 Holistic Medicine Sees the Whole Person

You are not a collection of symptoms. You are not a set of lab values. You are a whole person — with a mind, a body, a spirit, relationships, a history, and a purpose.

Holistic medicine refuses to reduce you to a diagnosis. It recognizes that chronic stress is not just emotional — it physically alters your hormones, your gut, your immune system, and your brain chemistry. It recognizes that sleep is not optional — it is when your body repairs, detoxifies, and restores. It recognizes that community, purpose, and even faith are not soft add-ons to health — they are foundational to it.

I integrate all of this into my care — because I have seen, over and over again, that the deepest healing happens when we address the whole person.

Why I Chose This Path — The Personal Part

I’ll be honest with you: there was (is) a season in my own life when I was (am) the patient who needed (needs) this kind of care.

Like so many of the women and men I now serve, I was doing everything I was “supposed” to do — eating reasonably well, staying busy, pushing through — and I was still running on empty. I was tired in a way that felt cellular, like something fundamental had gone offline.

It was in that season that I began to understand health not as a destination to arrive at, but as a relationship — a daily, intentional practice of listening to my body, caring for it well, and trusting that it was designed with remarkable capacity for restoration.

My faith has always been central to how I understand healing. I believe we are fearfully and wonderfully made. I believe the body has an extraordinary God-given capacity to restore and renew — when we give it the right environment to do so. That conviction shapes everything I do as a physician.

I didn’t choose functional medicine because it was trendy.

I chose it because it works. I chose it because my patients deserve better. And I chose it because I believe you were made for more than survival — you were made to thrive.
